The Senior Home Heating Subsidy provides seniors with fuel, electricity or wood to heat their homes.  To be eligible you must be 60 years old or older, own and live in your own home, not be receiving income assistance, have a low household income and meet an income test, and be a resident of the NWT.  You need to apply once every year between September 1 and March 31.

Sept 9th is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day.  This day is held on the 9th day of the 9th month as a reminder to women to not consume alcohol during their 9 months of pregnancy.

Back to School

Well it is that time already, back to  school.  Yellowknife Catholic Schools (YCS)  students kindergarten to grade 8 head back this Wednesday, Aug 25th while Yellowknife Education District 1 (YK1) students head back Wednesday, Sept 1st.  For more info check out the links to the school calendars YCS or YK1.   Best wishes to students, teachers, and parents  for a successful school year.

Walking in the Neighbourhood

Walking in the neighbourhood it is great to see all the improvements taking place.  So much effort going into new paint, new siding, new lawns, landscaping, some gorgeous flowers, and even some water features.  Our Range Lake neighborhood just keeps improving.  Many homes have changed hands recently so welcome to those of you who are new to Range Lake.
