Northwest Territories residents aged 15 to 30 have a new one-stop shop for all youth related programs and services offered by the territorial government. Proud2bNWT, a website for youth in the NWT, was officially launched today by the GNWT. The website will help young people find programs and services available to them quickly and efficiently. Proud2bNWT provides information on a variety of programs and services such as arts and culture, awards and bursaries, careers and employment, health and wellness, sports and recreation, and much more. Hope you had a great holiday season. It's nice to be back at work. This year promises to be another busy year. As always, please keep in touch. If you have concerns and issues you would like me to address as your MLA, please call me or my Constitutency Assistant, Carla at 445-9910 or email her at rangelakemla@theedge.ca.
I attended the house warming party for the new Day Shelter in Yellowknife. This is located on the other side of the old Pan Asia parking lot, downtown. It's a place where homeless residents in YK could drop by from 7 am to 7pm 7 days a week.
Until this premise opened, the homeless residents of YK did not really have a place to be between 7 am to 7pm when they can return to their overnight shelters. This will be especially important with cold weather upon us. The premise is equipped with a toilet facility, a shower and comfortable furniture where they can watch TV and have a bite to eat. There will also be counseling services.
It's been set up as a three year pilot project. GNWT is providing $450k over three years, BHP is providing $150K and City of Yellowknife $50k.
Most importantly, it's a place where I believe the people of good will gather to provide food, clothing and other necessary goods to those most in need. It is a very welcoming place for the clients it serves. It's a good thing.
It was so much fun to see all those Trick orTreaters coming to our door last night. Hope you all had fun.
My goodness the time is flying by. We are going into the last week of the Session this week.
I hope you have taken advantage of the H1N1 Clinic at the Multi-plex all this past week. If you missed it and still want to be vaccinated, Public Health office at Jan Stirling Centre will administer the vaccine between 3:30 - 4:30 pm every day starting Monday, November 2nd.
If you have questions about the vaccine or specific health concerns about the flu please call the Flu Line at 920-3026.
If you have questions or issues you want to bring to my attention please call my Constituency Assistant Carla at 445-9910 or email us at rangelakemla@theedge.ca.

We are all saddened to hear of sudden death of Tony Weir, husband of Kim Weir, a Health and Social Services employee, my constituent and someone I went to high school with. We send our prayers and condolences to Kim and her family during this difficult time.
On my schedule this week. I have a 7:15 am interview on CBC on Monday. Grand Opening of the Chief Drygees Building in Dettah on Monday afternoon. I will be appearing before the Standing Committee on Social Programs on Tuesday and Wednesday.
There is an AGM for YK Health and Social Services Authority on Wednesday as well as Range Lake North School PAC meeting. Aboriginal Sport Circle NWT AGM and dinner on Thursday. Grand Opening of the new office and the AGM for the NWT Council for Persons with Disabilities on Friday morning.
It's getting cool out there, stay warm and stay healthy.
This has been a very beautiful fall so far. The raspberries in our backyard and the saskatoons in the front are as big as grapes. I am enjoying eating a bowlful several days a week. What a treat.
All the MLAs are back starting this week for the next three weeks to review the Business Plan for the 2010-11 fiscal year. I will be appearing before Standing Committee on Social Programs in my role as Minister of Health and Social Services during this time.
Between Wednesday to Friday this week, I will be in Winnipeg for a meeting of all Health Ministers in Canada. The main topic on the agenda will be the H1N1 issue.
